Lone’ has collected antiques, funky junk, and miniature reproductions for more years than she cares to admit. A connoisseur of the tossed-away and a seasoned garage-sale explorer, Lone’ has also been known to stop traffic to pick-up smashed cans, rusty nails, and other no-longer-shiny objects that inspire her to assemble, to juxtapose, and finally to give shape to the creatures and objects of her imagination.
Lone’s formal training began at the Copenhagen School of Art (Kunsthåndvaeker skolen) where she majored in Fashion Design. At 18, her family emigrated to the USA and settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she attended Eastern Michigan’s Fine Arts program. She moved to Utah in the early 80’s and earned a degree in graphic design. For the next 15 years, Lone’ worked as a Senior Designer and an Art Director in local advertising agencies before launching her own graphic design business, Aspen Graphics, in 1998.
All Lone’s pieces are one-of-a-kind expressions of emotion or memory—whimsical, political, funny, painful, or fleeting. She hopes her pieces touch the imagination and bring the viewer some of the delight they bring to Lone’ as she watches them come together in her studio.
